Overview

This course complements Bookbinding — Introduction. In this course participants will undertake one major project for the duration of the course to consolidate existing skills and learn new methods. The project is complex in nature and covers a range of high-level techniques, all of which can be applied to other book binding projects. In this course students will be making a Full Leather Harrison Groove Library Binding.

Course content

  • Sew over tapes
  • Marble Book Edges
  • Construct leather hinges
  • Sew Endbands
  • Construct and attach split boards
  • Attach fake raised bands
  • Pare and cover with leather
